Dr Gillian Murphy

Dr Gillian Murphy is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Psychology at University College Cork. She is an applied cognitive psychologist who is particularly interested in attention and memory in everyday settings. She leads the Everyday Cognition Lab (everydaycognitionlab.com) and teaches courses on cognitive psychology, forensic psychology, research methods and quantitative data analysis. 

Gillian’s research often relates to the intersection of people and technology and she is part of the wider People & Technology research group (PATLab) at UCC.

Much of her recent research has concerned misinformation, including fake news and deepfakes. She primarily uses quantitative, experimental methods and is a keen proponent of open science.
