Prof. Tom Acton
Tom Acton is a Professor in Business Information Systems. He was Head of School of Business & Economics at the University of Galway, Ireland from Jan 2015 to Dec 2020. Previously, he was College Vice Dean for Teaching & Learning, Discipline Head of Business Information Systems, and Director of Accreditation for the School of Business & Economics. Currently he is Head of Business Information Systems.
His main research interests lie in cybersecurity, cloud computing, and mobile devices. His PhD is in information systems, and he holds other qualifications in mathematics, education, software design, commerce and science.
He has a number of journal publications, book chapters and conference papers. He has served as associate editor on journals such as the European Journal of Information Systems and the Journal of Theoretical and Applied E-Commerce Research.
Prior to joining the university he worked in the software and private education sector.
